A yearlong creative journaling flipthrough exploring collage, tactile play, and showing up without perfection in a noisy, overwhelming world.

A Year of Creative Journaling ✨ (Flipthrough + Reflections)

Sharing a year of creative journaling ✨

These journals became my constant companion throughout a strange year....I started in January 2024 and slowly filled as life unfolded. Some pages remain private of course, as they are little corners of thought that aren’t really for an audience. What I am sharing here is a look at how much self expression can grow inside physical containers.

Every collage, note, mark and layer was an experiment and for most spreads I just dove in (intent: figure it out along the way). Some pages came together in 5-10 minutes; others sat unfinished for weeks until my energy levels returned. What started in 2024 as a place to “just make something” slowly became a record of everything I was processing, learning, and dreaming about.

Creative journaling changed the way I relate to my art. It became a space where there’s no right way to create: just color, paper, and the most important element: taking action.

If you’ve been thinking about starting your own creative journal, consider this your sign to begin. You don’t need fancy supplies or a plan. It's interesting how I just made so much now I feel like I have my own templates to work from, its quite fascinating.

You can start with what you have: magazine cutouts, old receipts, a favorite pen, bits of scraps that catch your eye. The formula to unblocked creativity is in showing up and taking the next step forward. (It can suck at times, I know, but its part of moving past the block through the process.)

When you let your hands move and focus on tactile play, something cool happens and the closest I can describe this feeling is the opposite of what doomscrolling is - without wanting to be all woo-woo, it really is something like flow from God, or the Divine, or something spiritual.
